The German Federal Government’s Skilled Labour Strategy
On 16 October 2024, the German federal government passed the Skilled Labour Strategy for India, which was primarily drafted under the auspices of the German Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs and the German Federal Foreign Office.
It lays out 30 specific measures for expanding the recruitment of skilled labour from India. Central building blocks of the strategy include cutting red tape, digitising the process for issuing visas for India and teaching the German language in India. Additionally, the German Federal Employment Agency is intensifying its efforts by hosting job fairs in India and providing targeted advice services to Indian students in Germany.
